Brian McKiernan, President of CitiTech Systems, Inc., had this to say: "If the modification enhances the overall product, fits into the software model and benefits the majority of our user base, we’ll make the modification at no cost and make it available to all our users. If, however, the modification is unique to the user and without benefit to our user base, we will charge a development fee." Luckily for Indio, this modification was deemed useful for all Warehouse Requisition users, so it was delivered free of charge!

NAPA provides the City with repair parts and services, such as smog inspections, upholstery and commercial repairs as needed. In January 2008, the City of Indio contracted with NAPA Auto parts to set up and operate the spare parts requirements for the Fleet Maintenance Division. This required CitiTech and NAPA to work together to develop an interface to charge auto parts directly to the city’s fleet assets. This provides for a check and balance so that the city can compare CitiTech inventory with NAPA inventory and where there is a discrepancy, CitiTech provides an Error log Report that needs to be reconciled and payments are not made to NAPA until this is done.

This was considered custom development, since only the City of Indio needed it. Toyasha Black, the Management Analyst for the City of Indio, had this to say: "The custom addin helps to reduce double key data entry and data entry errors. We are still working on setting up the system, but from what we have seen thus far, it will be a big help in making sure our vehicle asset reports show the full cost of maintenance on a vehicle. This helps during budgeting for our equipment replacement schedule. Currently, the custom addin is run by me. Each week I do reconciliation to make sure the data entered from NAPA was properly input into CitiTech. The error log report generated by CitiTech is a big help in identifying those data entries that do not match up."

Dennis Wolbert, Fleet Mechanic Supervisor, who oversees day-to-day Shop and Fleet operations, and works with the NAPA representative, says, "The development of this addin accomplishes our need and purpose. So far it is meeting our expectations; Toyasha has done a lot of work with CitiTech behind the scenes to make this tool easy to for us (John and I) to use. So far, this addin is well worth the investment the City has made."

Dennis works with CMS’ Fleet Maintenance module, and says, "I am learning more about CMS every day. Coming from a fleet background, I only work in one small aspect of CMS. But in looking at all of the other aspects of CMS, its capabilities seem to be endless." What about technical support? He states, "I have had to the opportunity to interact with quite a few of the staff at CitiTech and everyone has been very delightful to deal with. Whoever I speak to, if they do not have an answer, they will find it and call back or email me right away. I look forward to learning more about CMS and utilizing it more in my assignment with the City of Indio."
