Warren County Fights Back
WARREN COUNTY, Mississippi - CitiTech Systems, Inc. - Warren County has won a major battle. For years, they’ve been fighting increased workloads, skyrocketing costs and software that didn’t work. To stay within budget and continue to meet the needs of the county, they needed timely and accurate information on operations and costs.
Although they had software, it was old DOS-based software that lacked flexibility and was not Y2K OK! “The Y2K issue forced us to find new software”, said Rhea W. Fuller VI, the county road manager at the time, “and I’m glad we did”.
Warren County installed CitiTech Management Software in August of 1999. The software is a fully-integrated application designed to meet the unique needs of a public works or road department. From Work Orders to Budgets, Project Management to Equipment Maintenance, the software combines all the major functions of the department into one, simple-to-use application.
“CMS is much more flexible than our current software and it was less expensive”, Fuller said. Their old software wasn’t integrated. Work Orders didn’t work with the other modules and, to total costs of operations, they had to resort to stubby pencils.
Because of its flexibility, CitiTech Systems, the software developer, was able to meet a unique need of Mississippi counties. The software normally includes a Purchase Order module and Mississippi counties are prohibited, by law, from doing Purchase Orders. They do Purchase Requisitions and the Courthouse does the Purchase Order.
CitiTech modified the software to do Purchase Requisitions and the Receipt Report at no cost. “Another software company was going to charge us $10,000 to modify their software to meet state law”, Fuller said. “CitiTech did it for free and got it done in a day”.
