FAQs

1. One of the clients isn’t getting the program update? (A message is displayed that indicates the software is older than the DB Version) If the server’s update folder is SHARED, it could be that the config file (CMS8.cfg) is pointed to the wrong place on the server to get the updated software. Open it using notepad and correct the path in the “Updates” line – or copy a config file from another client that is getting the update successfully. An example of this line follows: UPDATES:- \\[ComputerName]\[SharedFolder]\CitiTech8\Updates\

2. One of the clients isn’t showing any available reports? (No reports are available in the modules, navigators, or Reports Menu) If the server’s reports folder is SHARED, it could be that the config file (CMS8.cfg) is pointed to the wrong place (possibly on the server) for where the reports are located. Open it using notepad and correct the path in the “Reports” line – or copy a config file from another client that is seeing available reports. An example of this line follows:
REPORTS:- \\[ComputerName]\[SharedFolder]\CitiTech8\Reports\

3. One of the clients can’t see the database? (A message is displayed that indicates the DB Version is older than the software) If the user is a member of the group that can access the SQL Server instance (or Oracle instance), it could be that the config file (CMS.CmsConfig) has the wrong connection type or connection string. Open it using notepad and correct the connection string – or copy a config file from another client that is pointed at the database successfully. An example (using SQL Server) follows:
ConnType:SQL SERVER
ConnString:Integrated Security=SSPI;Initial Catalog=CMS8;Data Source=[ComputerName]/[InstanceName]
An example (using Oracle) follows:
ConnType:ORACLE
ConnString:Data Source=[ComputerName]/[InstanceName];Integrated Security=SSPI
