Inspection Module... Condition Factors
The Inspection Module is a set of programs designed to evaluate the
condition of assets (roads bridges, signs, utilities, etc.) based on
user-defined criteria and apply inspection results to update condition
levels of affected assets. Condition Factors and Inspections play an
important role in managing assets and evaluating operations based on
costs, performance and other community standards.
|
GASB-34 guidelines for the "modified approach" require inspections be
performed at least once every three years on all infrastructure assets.
CMS software maintains individual records for each road, bridge, sign,
utility item and other major category. Each record contains
inspection information, including the last inspection date and the
inspection interval. If the item is due an inspection, the system
warns the user in the Alert Reminder module. This insures inspections
are performed in a timely manner.
Identify "distress factors" and determine condition associated with each
type of asset.
|
- Select a resource from the "drop-down" list. Automatically, the list of
distress factors change to match the selected resource. This makes data
entry simple.
- The system maintains a set of values for low, medium, and high severities
based on the distress factor. These values are applied to the resource
selected in the Inspections Results module.

Inspection Module... Inspection Results
The Inspection Results screen in the Inspection Module lets you collect
inspection information on each infrastructure asset. |
- Simplify data collection! For example, if an inspection is performed on Main Street,
that inspection could contain several road segments, signs, sidewalks,
curb and gutter, etc. And, each component is evaluated separately.
- Once items have been identified with their distress factors, condition
can be calculated based on one or more inspection results.
- Print a report that includes inspected items, related distress factors
and beginning and end values based on the inspection.
