Integration

Data Entry:
CMS integrates "data collection" into one entry. One entry, rather than several entries in several separate software applications, manages all the major functions of the department. This single entry maintains project, equipment, inventory, payroll, pavement and many other management files.

SQL (Structured Query Language) Reporting:
CMS also integrates this information into meaningful management reports. Using SQL (Structured Query Language), information from virtually any source can be reported and analyzed. For example, if you wanted to know about pothole repair costs in the northside of town in the last six months when George used a paving machine, that information is available instantly. CMS comes with over 150 standard reports that can be manipulated, through SQL, to produce any results you may need.

Open Architecture:
CMS supports open architecture and was designed to share information between systems. A robust Reporting module that uses SQL (Structured Query Language) to gather, range and sort data can create data tables to be shared with other systems. An Import/Export capability converts and shares data, if required. It can import data from other systems, such as an existing fleet management system, automated fuel system, or export data to other systems, such as GIS.

Import/Export Data:
CMS includes a powerful Import/Export utility that shares information with other systems. There are some technicalities, such as: does the other system recognize CMS data (or vice versa) and do both systems maintain essential data elements. These are technical issues that are fairly simple to resolve if other systems offer the same import/export capabilities found in CMS.

Document management:
CMS uses a RDBMS system to manage data in a client-server environment. It supports images, documents or other ODBC-compliant objects as user-defined fields.

GIS (Geographic Information System) Integration:
GIS is a great application. It provides "visual" representations (i.e., maps and map overlays) that represent "tabular" data (i.e., printed reports). The problem with GIS is that it's another separate software application and it must be maintained or updated separately. CMS serves as a "data collector" for GIS systems. Data is captured in CMS and, because of its SQL capability, is shared with GIS applications. This means that CMS can automatically update a GIS map to display roads in most need of repair, sign locations or other items.

Other Facts

CMS warranty/guarantee:
CMS has one of the best warranties and guarantees on the market. For six months from the date of purchase, CMS is warrantied to be free of defects and operate according to specifications. As a matter of fact, we guarantee it! If, during this period, the software fails to meet published specifications, we will either fix it to meet those specifications or refund the purchase price. No other software company offers that guarantee.

Is it necessary to buy the complete system?
No. A basic system is available, but it lacks several important functions, such as work order management, pavement management, utility management, inspections, warehouse operations, and roadway features (bridges, culverts / catchbasins, guardrails, lights, signs, etc).
The basic system includes project management, employee management, equipment management, inventory control, purchase orders, work reporting/payroll reporting, fund accounts/budgets, billing/invoices, and comprehensive SQL reporting.
